Welcome Sophie Catfish to the family! Sophie is a miniature schnauzer, born February 22, 2006. She's AWESOME! Why is her middle name Catfish, you ask? Well, it's a story that has a lot to do with a fish fry in my neighbor's yard... let's just say the pup likes her fish all nice and greasy, and she likes to wear the smell of it. And yes, she loves her brother Gus. And he loves her, most of the time.

Summer days

Knowing that the schoolyear has ended and that I have not been working for the last week and a half, combined with my current living situation in a small and basically boring town with my husband still working and frequently out of town, you may be willing to bet that I should be getting bored soon. It is my pleasure to inform you, dear reader, that that is thankfully not yet the case.

I don't really have a good explanation for why I'm not bored, just that I feel like I'm doing exactly what one ought to do on summer vacation (not much at all). My days so far this week go kind of like this:

5:45 take Gus out to pee then go back to bed
9:00 wake up for real, eat breakfast, make coffee, feed Gus
9:30-12ish read, with various hourly diversions (like blogging, for example)
12-1 work out in my living room
1-1:30 shower and dress for the day, which is already halfway over
1:30-6 various activities may include a walk, e-mailing, visit neighbor/friends, read book or magazine, run errands, plan dinner, write letters, play with Gus, water garden, etc.
6ish make and eat dinner
7-10 read, watch TV, talk on the phone
10 take Gus out and go up to bed
10-10:30 Bible study then lights out

You may have noticed that reading is a rather prominent activity. That's because I never got to read until summer vacation and it feels so good to be reading again. Granted, the schedule above is a little dull because the hubbie has been out of town (coming back today). I also think I'm content to be doing very little because I know that I have other things to look forward to soon. Friday is my 25th birthday (hooray), then on the 16th I'm driving home to NC. There I'll spend a weekend at the beach with my girlfriends, then hang out with my parents for a week, spend the next weekend at Busch Gardens, then back with family for another week. Not sure yet what we're doing for the 4th of July.

New comments

Sadly, something went wrong with my comments and I had to erase the old system and instead I am using Blogger's system, so try it out for me. I never got to read the last 3 comments that were posted, so if that was you, by all means, comment again!

Although I had to post this picture because it caught him in the act of falling off the mechanical bull, PJ actually did a pretty good job of riding it.

Our first stop in Gatlinburg was the much talked-about Ripley's Aquarium, where we saw giant fish, sharks, rays,
octopuses (octopi?), you name it. Very cool.

PJ and I went there for Memorial Day weekend to celebrate our one-year anniversary. Here we are enjoying our new digital camera as the chair lift takes us up into the Great Smokey Mountains.

Welcome, Gus!

We have a new puppy as of yesterday! We named him Gus (Guster Magnesium-- guess who picked which parts of the name). He's a Maltese-poodle mix almost 3 months old and is just a fun little ball of fluff so far. We took him shopping at PetSmart, gave him a bath and trimmed his nails, and he's already so much fun! When we got him, he didn't know what to do when you put him on the floor, but he's already learned how to play with balls and chewy toys, and he follows us around everywhere we go. He was so hyper when he woke up this morning, I couldn't wait to get up and play with him. We're taking lots of naps together on the couch. Just watching him run around my feet as I try to walk without tripping on him makes me crack up. Hooray for puppies!
